One of the most common questions I receive from couples planning a destination wedding in Morocco is: "When is the best time to get married in Marrakech?" As a local photographer who shoots year-round, here's my comprehensive seasonal guide.
Spring: March to May (Peak Season)
Spring is widely considered the best time for a wedding in Marrakech, and for good reason.
- Temperature: 20-28°C (68-82°F) — comfortable for outdoor celebrations
- Light: Long golden hours, warm and flattering for photography
- Gardens: In full bloom — roses, bougainvillea, and jasmine create stunning natural decor
- Availability: High demand — book venues 12-18 months ahead
Best months: April and May offer the ideal balance of warm weather and blooming landscapes. March can still be cool in the evenings.
Photography tip: The spring light in Marrakech is extraordinary — soft, warm, and golden. Sunset portraits during this season produce some of the most beautiful images. Check our wedding photography tips for more on making the most of your photos.
Autumn: September to November (Peak Season)
Autumn rivals spring as the premier wedding season in Marrakech.
- Temperature: 22-30°C (72-86°F) — warm days, pleasant evenings
- Light: Rich golden tones, earlier sunsets create dramatic photography opportunities
- Atmosphere: The city is vibrant after summer, with a festive energy
- Availability: Very popular — advance booking essential
Best month: October is often considered the single best month for a Marrakech wedding. The heat has subsided, the light is magnificent, and the overall atmosphere is magical.
Winter: December to February (Off-Peak)
Don't overlook winter for your Marrakech wedding — it has distinct advantages.
- Temperature: 12-20°C (54-68°F) — mild but can be cool, especially evenings
- Light: Lower sun angle creates beautiful, moody, atmospheric light
- Pricing: Lower rates at top venues
- Availability: Much easier to book preferred dates and vendors
Photography tip: Winter light in Marrakech has a special quality — soft, directional, and painterly. It's perfect for couples who love a more dramatic, editorial style. The snow-capped Atlas Mountains in the background add a stunning element.
Summer: June to August (Low Season)
Summer is the most challenging season for a Marrakech wedding, but it can work with proper planning.
- Temperature: 35-45°C (95-113°F) — extremely hot during the day
- Light: Harsh midday sun, but beautiful evenings
- Pricing: Significantly lower rates
- Strategy: Plan evening-only celebrations starting after 6pm
Alternative: Consider Essaouira on the coast (20-25°C year-round) or the Atlas Mountains (cooler altitudes) for summer celebrations.
Month-by-Month Quick Guide
- January-February: Cool, quiet, great value, moody light
- March: Spring begins, pleasant, gardens awakening
- April-May: Peak season, ideal weather, full bloom
- June: Getting hot, last comfortable outdoor month
- July-August: Very hot, indoor/evening only, lowest prices
- September: Heat subsiding, beautiful transition month
- October: The golden month — widely considered the best
- November: Excellent, comfortable, autumn colors
- December: Festive atmosphere, mild, romantic
There's no wrong time for a wedding in Marrakech — only different moods and atmospheres. Each season brings its own magic. The key is choosing the season that aligns with your vision and planning accordingly.
